Arts and Cultural Ganesh Festival of SA 2023

The 8th Arts and Cultural Ganesh Festival of SA that was held on 23 and 24 September 2024 at AFL Max witnessed an incredible turnout of over 14,000 visitors. The Festival started with the vibrant procession of Lord Ganesh on the morning of 23 September.

There were cultural presentations for over 8 hours by 55 groups/academies (550 performers), including performances from 9 nationalities.

For the first time, MCing for the event was done by youngsters aged between 13-25 years. These children from the UIOSA family were trained by a professional radio jockey.

The highlight was the 2-hour dhol and tasha performance on both days of the event. These performers included children and adults aged 9-60 years.

The captivating decoration of the beautiful and magnificent 21-foot-high Ganesh idol and the beautiful rendition of Lord Ganesh Aarti and Atharvashirsha (chanting of hymns) by children aged 6-15 years left everyone awestruck.

Over 100 couples performed Satyanarayan Puja on the morning of 24 September. The UIOSA provided all the items needed for the puja.

The Festival received support of over 150 volunteers for over 60 hours.

The credit for the success of the Festival also goes to 43 small and medium business sponsors that partnered with the UIOSA.

The event was supported by the Government of South Australia, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, with the City of West Torrens Council being its Event Partner.

The Guest of Honour for the 2023 Festival was Minister for Multicultural Affairs Hon Zoe Bettison. Other dignitaries who graced the event included Hon Michael Coxon, Mayor, City of West Torrens, Hon Joseph Karl (Joe) Szakacs, Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services, and Mr Surender Pal, Councillor, City of West Torrens.
